about

Two years ago I wrote my first work for Lila and her chamber music series in Salem, New York.  It was for piano and string quartet.  This year Lila said I could write a piece for oboe, viola, cello and piano.

The germ idea for my “Oboe Quartet” is a Federico Mompou work titled “Musica Callada” for solo piano.  As a matter of fact, the work begins with the piano playing a melody from Musica Callada, but re-harmonized.  After that introduction, the music goes into its own world far away from Barcelona.  Oboe Quartet is in five movements.

I. Moderato
II. Allegro
III. Wave tank
IV. Allegro
V. Very slow

Enjoy!
