about

There is a lot of time to compose when you are stuck at home during the Pandemic 2020.. This is the second work I completed under lockdown. The first one, Kindertodtenlieder for soprano and piano, I started on April 26 and it was completed on May 13th.

While exercising at home, I was watching on YouTube Debussy’s Préludes Book 1 and 2, and the idea came to me that I should try my hand at writing something that is “impressionistic.” Why not? So I started my own set of preludes using the Debussy as my model. Each movement will take two or three notes from the original Debussy version and then I would divert and go in a complete different direction, following my gut instinct.

My Préludes like the Debussy is in twelve movements.

I. Moderato
II. Allegro TRIO
III. Allegro
IV. Adagio Moderato
V. Moderato
VI. Largo
VII. Moderato
VIII. Largo
IX. Moderato
X. Largo Adagio
XI. Moderato alla Marcia
XII. Habanera

Enjoy!!!
